Liminal

4 December @ The Driffold TR3 6PA

The first time I heard about Threshold Choirs - groups of women getting together to sing very simple songs, with the intention of singing at the bedside of those at the threshold of life and death - I was inspired, and knew I wanted to sing with a group of women like this.

We’ve decided to call our group: Liminal We are a Threshold Choir based around Truro, Cornwall, meeting once every two weeks with a CORE SONGS meeting once a month for newcomers (and regulars too if they wish!)

We begin by lighting a candle and taking a few moments of silence and reflection. Then we warm up our voices, and learn some songs. Finally, one of us will have the beautiful experience of being wrapped in blankets, and being sung to.

We sing for people at the end of life, and at other thresholds, in twos and threes. If you or someone you love would welcome a visit from our singers, then contact julia@juliamacdonald.co.uk or 07964 721843

If you’re interested in singing with us, do come along. Please let me know if you’re planning to come so I can prepare for numbers.

There’s no charge, but and ability to hold a line of music, and a willingness to sing, or learn to sing, with love and compassions is essential.

Liminal: Festive singing

11 December @ The Driffold

This is our last meeting of 2017! We aim to sing together, and have some festive fun. We begin at the earlier time of 7pm which gives us enough time to sing and also share a drink and a festive nibble.

If you’re interested in singing with us, do come along. Please let me know if you’re planning to come so I can prepare for numbers.

There’s no charge, but and ability to hold a line of music, and a willingness to sing, or learn to sing, with love and compassions is essential.

Breathing Space

3 December 18:15 @ Truro Methodist Church

Be still, be safe, be strengthened by an hour of reflection in song and silence.

For those of faith and of no faith Breathing Space is a place where people familiar with church and those who simply want some time to be, can come together in a space of welcome, reflection and peace which takes place within the Christian faith.

Expect music, song, silence, poetry around the theme of Peace…

All welcome. No charge.

Reclaim Health

9 - 11 December @ The Driffold, TR3 6PA

Reclaim Your Life!

Are you fed up with feeling unwell? Have you found that people say they can’t do anything for you?

If you’re ready to make some significant changes in your life, then this 3 day course, designed by the Reclaim Team, of which Julia is a founder member, could be your way forward.

Symptoms – Many, many people suffer from troublesome and distressing symptoms for which scans and blood tests cannot provide an explanation. In fact only half of all symptoms are caused by pathology such as cancer, allergies and infections. Those which cannot be explained in this way are called “functional symptoms”. Such symptoms are found in illnesses such as chronic fatigue syndrome/ME, fibromyalgia and irritable bowel syndrome. Functional symptoms such as pain are certainly not imaginary – they are very real and may be totally disabling, but are difficult to treat. Carers of people with functional symptoms often struggle to understand their illness. We hope that the information on our website will help.

The science – Functional illnesses are caused by a disturbance in the body (maybe following a viral infection or other illness) which becomes stuck in an inappropriate state. Research supports the use of methods such as cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness and breathing retraining to show people how to alter their body state and bring the body and mind back into a healthy balance.

The intervention – The 3 x half day course integrates techniques including mindfulness-based cognitive behavioural coaching, NLP and breath work.

You might benefit from attending our programme, which is designed to enable you to:

Understand how you can control your mind and body to function more effectively

Learn tools and techniques to reset mind and body balance

Implement strategies to help you reclaim your health and wellbeing.

The programme is not suitable for everyone; we offer a free assessment with a therapist to find out whether it will fit with your current needs.

What is the cost?

£500

What is included?

3 x half day group tuition in-depth booklet up to one hours pre-coaching up to 2 hours post-coaching

VISION 2018

6 January @ The Driffold, TR3 6PA

VISION 2018****

“Without a vision the people perish” Proverbs 28 v 19

This has always been one of my favourite Bible verses. I know it’s truth.

If we are to thrive, we need to have a vision. We need to have a sense of where we’re going. If we don’t, then we stumble around, repeating what we’re doing, not achieving very much and often being miserable.

How can we discover and make our vision real?

Vision Boards are a fabulous way of doing this! For the past few years, I’ve hosted a Vision Board workshop at the beginning of the New Year. Many people come year after year. Using images enables us to work at a more unconscious, and often more powerful level, than creating from our conscious minds.

What will you do?

  • Review the past year
  • Meditation to help access our unconscious and soul desires
  • Look though magazines for images that you’re drawn to
  • Play with images on a large board, to create your own VISION 2018
  • Share, if you wish, your board with others
  • Make a plan for 2018

This is a full days’ workshop 10 - 5. All materials and drinks are included. Just bring a packed lunch.

Full fee: £75

EARLY BIRD: if you book your place before December 20th, your can book an Early Bird place for £50!

Please note: places are limited, so early booking is advisable.
